We thought it would be fun to let you know a little bit more about Moneris, how we came to be and who we are now!

We’re the Brainchild of Two Top Canadian Banks

Moneris was created as a joint venture between two of Canada’s largest banks, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and Bank of Montreal (BMO), including Harris Bank, in December 2000. We’ve continued to maintain and grow on their traditions of financial security and market strength, to help build Moneris into one of North America’s leading payment providers.

We Process a Lot, for a Lot of Businesses

With the title of Canada’s #1 payment processor comes a lot of processing! Moneris processes approximately 3 billion transactions every year, at over 350,000 merchant locations across the country. With the Canadian population sitting at an approximate 37 million, that totals approximately 270 processed transactions per person, per year.

Our Executive Team Has Almost Equal Gender Parity

We know how important it is to have strong leaders running an organization, and we’re proud to have some of the best minds in the payments industry on our executive team. Our President and Chief Executive Officer is Angela Brown, an award-winning leader with more than 25 years in the payments industry. We also have women chief executives in Human Resources, Finance, Legal and our Corporate Secretary. Our male chief executives lead our Technology, Risk, Sales and Marketing, Operations, and Product and Partner departments.
