1. Google P2P Payments Via QR Codes In The Offing?
Google has announced that they’re working on a QR code system that would allow for quick and simple peer-to-peer (P2P) payments. With this system, users will be able to send money by scanning QR codes on each other’s smartphones. It’s unknown when this service will be officially released, but with the recent updates to Google Pay, we would assume soon!
2. WEX Inc. Continues Growth in Canada with Moneris Partnership

3. Laurentian Bank ATM’s leave the Montreal Subway (French article)
Looking to grab some cash in Montreal? The task just got a little more difficult. 68 Laurentian Bank ATM’s week removed from the Montreal metro network during summer, with the last removed in the last week. This decision was made after Laurentian figured the global decrease in the use of its ATMs of 47%, while electronic transfers were growing strongly. Find out more about why in this article!
4. Checkfront Partners with Google to Bring Tours and Activities to Maps, Search and the Assistant
Hoping to book a sightseeing tour or adrenaline activity in the near future? Well, that just got much easier thanks to the partnership with Checkfront and Google! Checkfront, a leading global booking platform, as partnered with Google to connect users to tours and activities that will be searchable and shown in Maps. This partnership allows Checkfront to expand their visibility, and capture Google’s extensive user base.
5. Real-time Payment System Growth Surging Worldwide: FIS Report
Real time payment solutions are growing around the world – with 40 active programs today, up from 25 in 2017. The report also identified another five programs currently under development, bringing the number up even higher. Make sure to check out this report to find out more!
